when hearts collide,
with astounding awkwardness, breath recoils
speech stumbles on hungry silence
toes curl in to fight the freeze
flight of nerves
leaves the rest of life to be
without history
slate wiped so clean
soul and senses in disagreement
with who started it all
this opera of stars
playing with our fate
which instant did it all begin
to rush blood in our veins
when did each cell learn to sing
to the touch of a word
hanging in the air
with longing eyes
ambitious in wanting
without knowing how
our hearts collide
