Look what the past dragged in
Grains of truth wait to be winnowed
Anger grumbles in unvoiced angst
Mounds of regret sulk forgotten
Apologies lie locked in vaults of silence
Nostalgia strokes half a wound
Hesitant footsteps shuffle ashamed
When blue skies and sunrays
unfurl a picnic day
We draw the blinds and squander it away
Mindfills for Reena’s exploration challenge, Fandango’s FOWC – apology
Yikes; well-written and well-matched with the illustration.

I think this one is a masterpiece! The lines “Grains of truth wait to be winnowed/Anger grumbles in unvoiced angst/Mounds of regret sulk forgotten/Apologies lie locked in vaults of silence” are so filled with images of universal truth that my breath is halted and then I gasp!

A beautifully written verse and capture of what I try and forget, or not think about, every day.
